Microsoft

Key Partner

Information

During the pandemic, Microsoft was a steadfast partner of the NHS . We supported GP practices, NHS trusts and national bodies to keep their systems running. We worked with their IT staff as they accelerated the digital transformation of NHS systems. And we helped them with a wide-ranging and much-needed shift to the remote delivery of many elements of the patient journey.

Now Microsoft stands ready to help the NHS reform and rebuild.

Here are some of the key requirements that the NHS must meet:

Patients expect a joined-up experience whenever and wherever they encounter the NHS – whether that’s in their GP’s surgery or in a specialist hospital.

The Government and the NHS leadership want to move the NHS into a digital-first world, so that it can deliver better services, more efficiently.

NHS England wants to establish 25,000 virtual ward beds by April 2024, the equivalent of two District General Hospitals for every Integrated Care System in the country.

The UK’s life sciences sector, meanwhile, needs to work more closely with the NHS to apply lessons learnt from the pandemic and to develop promising new treatments and precision medicines.

For Microsoft’s UK Health Team, this means that our strategic focus now must be to help the NHS recover, reform and research.
