Elderly Care: How big is the opportunity?

Information

How large is the real opportunity and what will elderly care look like in the future? Issues include:   - How far can nursing home groups build models which extend into homecare and assisted living?  - What is really happening with demand? Will there be a tsunami?   - Are there are substantial opportunities in the step-down market?   - Will we see substantial growth in the private pay space?

Dr Jochen Messemer, Partner, McKinsey  Nursing home bed numbers in the UK, Sweden and Netherlands have been flat for the last decade. So are we really going to see a huge hike in demand as baby boomers age? Or will homecare, shorter avlos and longer quality life times mean that we won't see a big bulge?

Keith Crockett, CEO, Avery Healthcare  Avery is one of the UK’s leading, private pay-focused elderly care providers. Avery operates 60 facilities with 4,590 beds across England.
