Aquark Technologies is a cutting-edge company specialising in the development of cold atom quantum technology, aiming to revolutionise the accessibility and affordability of quantum advancements. With a solid foundation in vacuum technology, microfabrication and laser system development, Aquark is positioned to lead in the commercialisation of quantum sensors and technologies.
Aquark has achieved a significant breakthrough by successfully demonstrating the continuous trapping of cold atoms suitable for sensing applications while in flight on a drone. This pioneering achievement, a first in the world, underscores the potential of Aquark's technology to transform industries through enhanced navigation, precise measurements and improved situational awareness.
The company was awarded runner-up of the quantum Business Innovation and Growth prize offered by the Institute of Physics in 2023, and is one of the first 44 companies to be awarded participation in the NATO DIANA accelerator following an extensive selection process with over 1,300 participants.
Aquark was born out of the University of Southampton, and founded by Dr Alexander Jantzen and Dr Andrei Dragomir in May 2021, the company is based on over 12 years of research conducted by the Integrated Atom Chip group in the universities’ School of Physics and Astronomy.
