The DevOps Engineer is a key role that focuses on building and maintaining the tooling and infrastructure used to automate the release, deployment, and upgrade processes for workloads.
Job Description
This individual will work on developing the automated pipelines for cloud environments as well as providing consulting services to application and infrastructure teams specific to automated build, test and release automation. This role will be responsible for the operations and operating environment for the DevOps platforms and will drive troubleshooting efforts around incidents and outages. The ideal candidate will embrace a lead role in how the company deploys, verifies, and monitors applications and services. This person will interface with all stakeholders to define DevOps processes and shape the development culture. Success in this role requires experience in systems engineering and cloud automation. You must be a critical thinker, a scripter with strong coding skills that will be used to automate repeatable tasks. Additionally, you must be highly organized with strong communication skills and a mindset for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Designing, provisioning, monitoring and maintaining the public cloud automation framework - Build a strong relationship with the development teams to understand the code, its dependencies, and the infrastructure on which it runs. -Assist development team with deployment strategy and capacity planning across development, QA, staging and production environments. - Leads the effort in the ongoing improvement of CI/CD environment provisioning and development workflows. - Ensure the pipelines have appropriate levels of monitoring and alerting set up for all applications and infrastructure across a diverse environment. - Project Verso Team Resourcing – Technology and Development Services –
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or 5+ years of relevant professional experience - 5+ years of experience as a technical specialist. -2+ years of hands-on experience of programming in languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object-oriented language. -Experience with automating cloud native technologies, deploying applications, and provisioning infrastructure. -Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, using CloudFormation, Terraform, or other tools. -Experience developing cloud native CI/CD workflows and tools, such as Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity, Code Deploy (AWS) and/or GitLab. -Hands-on experience with microservices and distributed application architecture, such as containers, Kubernetes, and/or serverless technology. Experience with the full software development lifecycle and delivery using Agile practices. -Experience in a production environment. -Experience of monitoring frameworks (such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar) -Experience with monitoring tools such as Kibana, New Relic, ELK stack Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge of IP networking, VPN's, DNS, load balancing and firewall. -Experience with monitoring and log aggregating frameworks such as Kafka, Logstash, Splunk, Elasticsearch, and Kibana. -Experience implementing and designing cloud native security concepts, DevSecOps, or MLOps. -AWS Certification(s) such as Solutions Architect Pro, DevOps Engineer Pro, SysOps Admin, Developer Associate. -Strong presentation, verbal communication and written communications skills.
