Mushlabs is a Biotech startup that’s on a mission to create transformative and lasting change in the global food system. Biotechnology is the core of our solution and with it, we are unlocking the potential of an overlooked kingdom of life - fungi and their roots, called mycelia, as a food source. We grow fungal mycelium in bioreactors by feeding them with nutrients from agro and food industry side streams. We screen for and discover new fermentation “recipes” for tasty, functional and sustainable ingredients.
There are three main building blocks to our technology:
1) Using sidestreams from the agri industry as nutrient source
2) Optimization of fungal mycelium cellular growth
3) Product development to create not only taste but also healthy and nutritious meat replacement products by focusing on all- rounded nutritional and health benefits of mushroom mycelium.
