The luxury ready-to-wear brand Hugo Boss was founded in 1924 by the German tailor Hugo Ferdinand Boss. At the time, his sewing workshop only produced windcheaters, men's shirts, sportswear, workwear and raincoats. With the crisis of 1929, production shifted to leather jackets, hunting outfits and overalls.
