GAF is one of the most experienced Copernicus service providers

GAF has performed more than 50 projects related to Copernicus in all the relevant operational services and space components. These have covered the full value adding chain from data reception, data access and data dissemination to operational applications. More than 50 of the company’s permanent staff are currently involved in Copernicus projects.

GAF and Copernicus – cooperation right from the very start

GAF’s direct involvement with Copernicus started already back in 1998, at the same time as the Baveno Manifest. Today, GAF provides its longstanding experience and expertise to all Copernicus thematic services, most prominently to “Land Monitoring”, “Emergency Management” and “Forestry”, as well as “Atmosphere Monitoring” “Security” and “Agriculture”.

GAF is also involved in Copernicus support activities such as “User uptake” and “Research and Development”. In addition, GAF receives and provides OceanSat data and is involved in the Copernicus Space Component Data Access & Warehouse.

EO for intelligent decision-making

GAF helps private and public stakeholders establish EO based information services and integrate them into their business processes, thereby facilitating decision-making processes. In this context, GAF utilises the latest Copernicus data and develops state-of -the-art applications. The company focuses primarily on the needs of users, as they are at the heart of all innovations.

At the forefront of innovation

The company is at the forefront of designing new information services based on upcoming EO SmallSat constellations at an operational level. Our key expertise lies in the integration of EO capacities into governmental, administrative and commercial business processes at the national and international levels. GAF designs practical applications for Sentinel data, including in the context of growing African-European cooperation. The utilisation of free and open data sources provided by the European Sentinel Programme plays a major part in GAF’s operational and R&D work.
