Information
Mayday.ai is a German company with Californian roots. It uses earth observation data,
including Copernicus and AI technologies for real time disaster and risk intelligence. The
company covers multiple disasters and all geographical regions of the world. It addresses all
phases of the disaster cycle and in line with the UN's Sendai Framework, it aims at achieving
a culture shift towards prevention and preparedness instead of response and recovery.
Mayday's innovative approach has been recognised by the European Space Agency and the
German Aerospace Centre (DLR), which have support the company's activities through the
ESA Incubed programme.
Mayday achieves an unprecedented timeliness and accuracy by the processing of a high
number of sensor data through Mayday's proprietary AI fusion engine, which includes more
than 300 satellites, about 35,000 traffic cameras, drone imagery and social media. An
important building block are sensors of the Copernicus programme, whose value is further
extended by a number of Mayday's solutions.
For crisis management, Mayday.ai provides early detection, as well as a common operating
picture. The Mayday platform includes a number of data layers and views, as well as live
dashboard reporting. Users can easily customise this reporting themselves and it can be
event or community centric. Event validation/impact assessment is supported with a
»before-after« views and it is complemented by high-resolution imagery and SAR-based
analyses on demand.
Through its mobile app, Mayday enables a two-way communication with civilians and
profiling/triaging in a crisis event context.
Mayday is in the process of launching a number of operational centres where its staff will
support organisations with disaster management 24/7, with the first centre opening its doors
in Santiago de Chile.
The culture shift towards prevention and preparedness is driven by Mayday's risk modelling
approach is based on machine learning which has considerable advantages to traditional
probabilistic approaches. Risk modelling is dynamic (risk levels are being adjusted in real
time) and at a high level of granularity (i.e. up to parcel level).
Mayday's is an extension of the market-leading Esri platform, which allows a deployment on
desktops and mobiles in a few clicks and an easy integration into enteprise ERPs. The
platform is built on a modular approach. This allows integration of modules tailored for
verticals, like insurance - e.g. underwriting or claim processing can be added to the suite
