Information
EUMETSAT is the European operational satellite agency for monitoring weather, climate and the environment from space.
We are an intergovernmental organisation based in Darmstadt, Germany, currently with 30 Member States. EUMETSAT operates the geostationary satellites Meteosat-9, -10 and -11 over Europe and Africa, and Meteosat-8 over the Indian Ocean.
We also operate the Metop polar-orbiting weather satellites and we are a partner in the cooperative sea level monitoring Jason missions (Jason-3 and Jason-CS/Sentinel-6) involving Europe and the United States.
EUMETSAT and Copernicus
EUMETSAT provides data, products and support services to the Copernicus information services and user communities, with a focus on marine, atmosphere and climate.
This involves operating the ocean-monitoring Sentinel-3 and Sentinel-6 missions. In future, EUMETSAT will also operate and deliver products from the Sentinel-4, and Sentinel-5 instruments onboard Meteosat Third Generation and Metop Second Generations satellites, respectively.
Accessing Copernicus Data
EUMETSAT, ECMWF, EEA and Mercator Ocean have jointly developed the WEKEO data information and access service (DIAS) to provide fast and easy online access to Copernicus data and products.
