Hawkesbury’s renewable energy agreement to deliver lower costs, less emissions

Information

With Renewable Energy Hub’s support, Hawkesbury City Council has taken a major step towards its goal of achieving net-zero emissions, with the signing of a long-term energy contract underpinned by renewable energy. The 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) will reduce the Council’s carbon emissions by about 67,000 tonnes (the equivalent of removing more than 1,000 cars from our roads) and will deliver significant ongoing cost savings on Council’s electricity bills. The Mayor of Hawkesbury City Council, Councilor Barry Calvert said rising electricity costs are affecting communities and organisations across Australia, including local councils. “By working with Renewable Energy Hub to secure a new PPA we were able to reduce our costs, while also standing by our commitment to renewable energy.”
