Low field NMR (20MHz) to measure the hydration of hair

The hair has a low moisture content (only 8-10%) with a large part of the water in a very bound form. The low field NMR methods were developed by Cerevaa to quantify the moisture content in hair but also to determine the state of the water (bound ou very bound water). These methods can be used on natural normal hair, on hair stressed naturally or by a chemical agression (coloration for example). This allow also to characterise the efficiency of active ingredients that are used as moisturizind agent.
