The School of Digital Arts (SODA) is a purpose‑built, interdisciplinary school at Manchester Metropolitan University. Based in city renowned for innovation, SODA offers courses that span film, animation, UX, design, photography, sound design, gaming, Al and more.


Offering industry informed courses and specialist spaces with the latest technologies, SODA is a £35M investment into the workspaces, networks, teaching and research that will drive the next generation of creative content.


SODA’s specialist facilities include a UX Suite, film studios, green screens, edit suites, sound, music & production studios, a cinema and a gallery.


Our new school is ideally placed in a global city that has transformed to be a leading powerhouse of the UK’s digital economy and in return offering students the ideal playground to launch their digital career.


Students choose from a flexible mix of courses: undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees that run alongside degree apprenticeships, summer schools and short courses. A programme of pioneering research runs parallel, informing our teaching and generating answers to the most challenging questions posed by digital media and technology – research that’s designed to meet the needs of industry now, and in the future.
