Going green with native: efficient, sustainable software
Information
For years, we could get away building simple websites that were larger than a '93 3D game and replace our phone every year for a model that was faster and felt better. Slow code?
Just get better hardware! But times are changing, and green, sustainable low carbon software is increasingly valued.
In this session we'll cover the long-term environmental impact of inefficient code and how more efficient written software running as a native application will combat this. The impact of software built with native frameworks such as Quarkus, Helidon and the latest Spring is measured along with suggestions to measure this yourself. We'll also dive into several Java improvements that limit CPU and memory usage, so you'll provide a solid foundation forthe native application.
Join us in this talk if you're interested in having a positive impact on the environment with your code and providing evidence of the improvements.
