Fresh Propagation Makes a Difference:
Omega yeast has the classic strains brewers use in addition to our unique strains. All of our strains are propagated fresh to custom-size pitches of your choice, from 1bbl up, and any pitch rate you specify.
We schedule your pitch when you call and plan for it to finish propagation right before we ship it out. Plan weeks and months ahead or order it ASAP.
Pitches ship out the moment they finish propagation to size, healthy and viable, and ready to brew, so turn around times are about a week, and are consistently so. You won't wait longer than expected and we don't "sell out" because we're custom propping your pitch for you every time.
So, if you're using yeast from a provider that inventories yeast for weeks or months in order to be ready to ship out next-day, chances are you are seeing fermentation character variation across pitches or slow first generation starts. Freshness matters to health and viability. We prop fresh for reliability, consistency and the best outcomes.
For strains you're already waiting longer than a week for--or even can't get reliably when you need them--it's certainly a no brainer to go with Omega Yeast's custom props.
If time is an issue, fresh excess of popular strains may also be available faster than a week lead-time. Just ask!
All strains are available year-round. Ready when you are.
For example,
West Coast Ale I:
Popularly called “Chico,” West Coast Ale I is a reliable, versatile and popular neutral foundation for displays of malts and hops. Often used as a house strain, it is highly attenuative and moderately flocculent. And it ferments crisp and clean with light citrus notes under 66° F (19° C). Also try DIPA (OYL-052) or British I (OYL-006) to highlight hops more, or West Coast II (OYL-009) and Scottish Ale (OYL-015) for malt displays.
