Information
Pharmafilter is at the forefront of waste and wastewater treatment for the healthcare sector, providing an innovative, transformational waste and wastewater on-site treatment system that assists healthcare in providing a better environment, infrastructure, care, waste, and wastewater treatment at sources more economically, creating a positive impact and clinical improvements.
We provide a DBPOF or As A Service Package: Pharmafilter design, build, permit, operate and finance (DBPOF) as an infrastructure service option for all Hospitals Sectors, offering an entirely integrated turnkey service focused solely on the things that matter.
Pharmafilter's system removes all micropollutants, pharmaceutical, covid 19, AMR and biological, to below the detectable limit. This provides a far more efficient solution by removing these contaminants, which is more desirable than the non-existing capability at municipal wastewater facilities. The Pharmafilter system and working method is an integrated approach to healthcare-generated wastes, wastewaters, and service delivery that achieves better outcomes for the hospital, its patients, staff, and the environment. The Pharmafilter upstream or decentralised waste and wastewater treatment system offers significant benefits to the host hospital, the local community/municipality, and the environment.
The treatment unit is designed to meet the complete decontamination requirements of the specific wastes generated in hospitals. This purpose-built system has none of the gaps or potential failures of more general designs or methods. This provides the hospital with the ability to eliminate the hazardous element of all waste exported offsite. Therefore hazardous material is neither transported through the local community nor shipped out of the country, as is currently the case with some healthcare risk wastes.
The Pharmafilter system was developed "from the bottom up." A constant feature of the development process is nurses, doctors, and infection control specialists on the hospital side and waste and water management engineers from the environmental management aspect. This dynamic enabled the development of a system that meets the specific needs of a health care setting while adding environmental capability not usually associated with handling and decontaminating healthcare risk waste, i.e., to consider hospital wastewater and sewage as unique effluent requiring specialist treatment and then deliver an effective solution.
The system is a thoroughly integrated waste disposal and waste & wastewater decontamination system that at every stage delivers significant improvements in the handling, removal, and treatment of waste streams arising from hospitals. It is a 'clean-technology’ process for dealing with complex waste, sewage, and wastewater
As an environmentally responsible company, Pharmafilter has ensured that the company maintains a strong stance on sustainability. In fact, the organisations activities are designed to contribute to a sustainable society by tackling real issues. This is the ideology behind the creation of the Pharmafilter system, with the aim to recycle as many materials. This commitment to sustainability is echoed throughout the company, with its main aim being to minimise environmental impact by consistently looking for new ways to develop and improve upon its technology in all areas.
