Norah's Ark - L'Arrière Scène

Norah, the sole survivor of a fatal flood, finds herself alone in the middle of the treacherous ocean. As she navigates her way through hope and despair, she reinvents a life for herself on her little boat. But she isn't totally alone. She has brought a few treasures with her, namely her knowledge, her memories and her imagination. This contemporary adaptation of the 1997 play invokes an Ark on which four different Norahs travel through the torments of the raging elements as they are forced away from their home. Their seemingly hopeless journey from Haiti, Magreb, China and Québec, however gives birth to an incredible strength, an independence and a candid look at the forces of nature and destiny. Norah’s Ark was a finalist for the RFI/Francophonie Jeunesse Award (1997) and the Governor General’s Literary Award (1999). The play features captivating original music by Quebec artist Jorane. NORAH Inside me, there are dreams, like little boats. Dreams of things I don't know yet, like the names of trees, secrets, angry feelings... all that inside me.
