Information

In VICTORIA, Dulcinea Langfelder brings to the stage an evocative and unforgettable portrayal of Victoria, a woman in her later years who has lost much of her memory but none of her heart and imagination. Victoria is an inspiration as she celebrates her 90th birthday. "The older I get, the more vividly I remember things that never happened!" This touching and thoroughly entertaining production blends past and present as well as multimedia, theatre and dance to celebrate living and loving right up to the end. Dulcinea is one of those artists at the core of Montreal's reputation for inventive multi-disciplinary creations. Over the past 30 years Dulcinea has invented her own artistic vocabulary, blending physical and theatrical performance with a nimble mastery of technology to tell her stories in the most engaging and yet astonishing fashion. Her productions have been performed in three languages in North America, South America, Asia, Europe and Africa. Dulcinea Langfelder has always felt that this production can help presenters engage in a creative way with the aging population in your communities – with community centres, service organizations or health care facilities around issues of aging, care-giving and Alzheimer’s? This past season Dulcinea created a dynamic context for the presentation of her acclaimed production, in collaboration with the 6 of Montreal’s Cultural Centres that she is calling THE VICTORIA PROJECT. This PROJECT centres around theatrical presentations of VICTORIA and integrates residency activities to help build partnerships between two seemingly disparate worlds: the performing arts and healthcare sectors, to support care-givers and to engage directly with the elderly.
