Patrice Thibaud FRANITO

Patrice has toured his physical comedy production COCORICO to Festival Iberoamericano de Bogota, the Festival de Mayo in Guadalajara, the Shanghai Comedy Festival, the Macau Arts Festival, the Chuncheon Mime Festival in Korea and the Taipei International Children’s Festival. Patrice has since created FRANITO in which he teams up with flamenco wunderkind, Fran Espinosa. The production, presented at the Lyon Dance Biennale in Lyon and the Scène Nationale de Chaillo, will tour to Asia in the 2020-21 season FRANITO is the story of a young prodigy of flamenco and his mother. Fran Espinosa, prodigious dancer, laureate of the National Flamenco Prize in 2007, plays his role, Patrice Thibaud embodies his lovingly abusive and massive mother, as tender as she is authoritative. Everything happens in an Andalusian kitchen, where Spanish culture is mixed with devastating humor. Thrown into the mix, pell-mell, are references to Dalí, Picasso and Don Quixote ... Hilarious and tender, broadly humorous and poetic, Franito is a show with a fine ear. Accompanied by guitarist Cédric Diot, the two performers rely on bulería, a traditional and mocking flamenco style. Franito delivers an enjoyable and intelligent vision of flamenco.
