Information

Performance for 10 dancers | Creation 2013 | Duration 55’ The word Tarab is a key term in Arabic culture and describes a feeling that can be evoked through poetry, music and spirituality. Tarab is similar to the groove in funk, the swing in Jazz or the duende in Flamenco. For the dance performance Tarab, music and dance are interwoven into a groovy Sufi ceremony that is based on the search for ecstatic dances. In Tarab, the Geneva based Cie 7273 develops a language of movement with a hypnotic effect, inspired by the flourishes and flowing character of Arabic calligraphy.
