The arrival of many new internet exchanges and network providers in the Middle East means the region is acting as a strategic gateway for traffic between Europe, Asia and Africa. These developments also coincide with major cloud providers recently launching data centres in the region, establishing greater interconnectivity and automation. 

These benefits mean carriers can connect their enterprise customers quickly and easily to the cloud in the Middle East, but with software defined interconnection capability so high, what will connectivity of the next generation look like and how will the development of interconnection further emphasise the Middle East’s role as a global hub?
