Information

Farm-to-fork food and Porro design characterize the new restaurant café of MAXXI museum in Rome. Opened in March 2011 inside the building that housed the first bookshop in the complex of the former police barracks from which the museum has been reborn, MAXXI 21 is the result of the project of the architect Davide Valoppi, who has enhanced the existing structure of glass, iron and concrete with essential lines and clean and elegant tones, from white to black. Selected for their rigorous but comfortable design, that reinterprets the classic wooden chair in a contemporary vein, 60 Neve armchairs and 20 Neve chairs, designed by Piero Lissoni for Porro furnishing company, point of reference in the design world for its minimal sign and the almost architectural approach to the project. If the support structure is characterised by a format of distinct lines of various thicknesses, which give it a pleasant aerodynamicity, the roundness of the spindle legs and the slim curvature of the back and suspended seat make soften its figure. The use of black stained ash accentuates its decoration and at the same time ensures its elegance, giving it a vintage 1950s appearance, which perfectly fits with the sophisticated interior of the restaurant, ideal for breakfasts, lunchs and dinners with a scenic view, through large windows, on the amazing facilities of the museum designed by the archistar Zaha Hadid.
