Urushi translates to lacquer, and in the context of fabric refers to textiles with lacquered threads woven into them. These threads can be a variety of colors but are often metallic in gold, silver, or copper, and can range from dull to very bright. Commonly seen on haori jackets, it adds a formal touch.
