Information

This session will not be available on-demand.

This session will help participants develop a deeper understanding of the complex relationship between primary respiratory pathogens and the respiratory immune system, with the goal of facilitating the development of strategies to effectively treat and prevent CIRD. This session will start with a thorough review of the respiratory defense system, then review the mechanisms by which primary pathogens evade innate and mechanical defenses to cause disease. Using this pathologic basis, we will discuss disease management strategies for uncomplicated and complicated forms of disease, discuss the important role of vaccination in disease prevention, and discuss immunologic and non-immunologic factors that can be implemented in the face of a CIRD outbreak.
