General information
- HOW DO I RECORD MY HOURS AND GET MY CE CERTIFICATE? You can claim your CE Certificate by clicking here. You'll need to sign in and add the sessions you attended to your certificate and then you can either download the certificate or email it to yourself. If you have any questions regarding your CE Certificate, please contact AVMA_CE@avma.org.
- WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I AM HAVING TECHNICAL ISSUES with THE PLATFORM OR A SESSION/EVENT? Click on the Need Assistance button towards the bottom of the Home page, then use the chat option for additional support. Please reach out here first, as this chat is staffed to assist you right away. Should you run into something in a CE Session that is not functioning or does not have a link, please contact AVMA_CE@avma.org.
- DO YOU HAVE A PLATFORM WALK-THROUGH I CAN VIEW? Yes! This is in your Know Before You Go email. Please let us know if you have any questions!
- DURING THE EVENT, WHAT IF SOMEONE IS MAKING COMMENTS THAT I DON’T FEEL ARE APPROPRIATE OR ARE CONTRADICTORY TO THE OFFICIAL POSITIONS OF THE AVMA? AVMA is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all meeting participants and AVMA staff. All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, volunteers, exhibitors, AVMA staff members, service providers, and all others are expected to abide by this Virtual Programs Code of Conduct. AVMA has zero tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment, including but not limited to sexual harassment by participants or our staff at our meetings. If you experience harassment or hear of any incidents of unacceptable behavior, AVMA asks that you inform Michael Wilson, Director of Convention & Meeting Planning, AVMA, mwilson@avma.org, Cell: 224-257-1470 so that we can take the appropriate action.
- Unacceptable Behavior is defined as:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
- Verbal abuse of any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, AVMA staff member, service provider, or other meeting guest. Examples of verbal abuse include, but are not limited to, verbal comments related to gender, sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin, inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces or in presentations, or threatening or stalking any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, AVMA staff member, service provider, or other meeting guest.
- Disruption of presentations during sessions, in the exhibit hall, or at other events organized by AVMA throughout the virtual meeting. All participants must comply with the instructions of the moderator and any AVMA virtual event staff.
AVMA reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the meeting without warning or refund, in response to any incident of unacceptable behavior, and AVMA reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future meeting, virtually or in person.
- HOW DO I UPDATE MY PROFILE? Click the icon in the upper right of the screen that is displaying your initials or photo, then click “My Profile”. Use the Edit buttons on each section of the profile to update your information.
- WHERE CAN I FIND INFORMATION FOR THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING? AVMA Virtual Convention continuing education sessions provide a closed captioning option for the session. Click the CC icon on the video menu to activate closed captioning. You will also be able to interact through session chat logs in the sessions. For other ADA requests, please contact convention@avma.org. Please be mindful that all live broadcast sessions will have captioning in the on demand versions.

Registration
- CAN A COLLEAGUE OR COWORKER REGISTER AFTER THE LIVE EVENT AND GET ACCESS TO THE ON-DEMAND SESSIONS? Yes! Please direct them to www.avmaconvention.org. Registration and access to over 150 CE sessions (and special events) will be available through October 2021.
- WHAT IS THE REGISTRATION CANCELLATION POLICY? Registration fees are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend the meeting live, session recordings will be available until October 31, 2021. Cancellations must be submitted in writing to avma@mcievents.com.
Continuing education
- DO I NEED TO SIGN UP FOR EACH SESSION I WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND? Nearly all AVMA's in person CE sessions, including Sunrise CE sessions, are available to all convention registrants. You can add sessions to your agenda on the Session Schedule Page.
- WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF CE HOURS I CAN EARN? With convention being all virtual this year, the opportunity to earn over 300 hours of CE is available through both the live online event and on-demand content once the event is over. On-demand content is available until October 31, 2021. Visit www.aasvb.org/DLR/ to locate the detailed CE license renewal requirements for your state veterinary board.
- MY SPOUSE/COWORKER/FRIEND IS ALSO A VETERINARY PROFESSIONAL. CAN THEY ATTEND CE SESSIONS? Only convention registrants can attend educational sessions and earn CE credit. Anyone who wishes to attend CE should register as separate attendees.
- WHAT CE IS AVAILABLE FOR PRACTICE MANAGERS AND PRACTICE STAFF? The practice management and professional development CE tracks offer sessions covering all facets of the veterinary practice, including topics on personnel/staff management, personal and professional finance, leadership, career options, and communications/marketing. All full convention registrants, including veterinary technicians and practice staff, can attend any of the available CE sessions except for select workshops.
- ARE INTERACTIVE LABS AND WORKSHOPS AVAILABLE AT THE AVMA VIRUTAL CONVENTION? Workshops are offered at the AVMA Convention for an additional fee. View workshop options by filtering for the Workshops track on the CE schedule, and if interested in signing up contact avma@mcievents.com or call 888-326-6541. Unfortunately, our interactive labs won't be available during Virtual Convention, but they'll be offered again next year at AVMA Convention 2022 in Philadelphia.
- HAVE MY STATE'S CE REQUIREMENTS CHANGED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC? State veterinary licenses are issued by the veterinary regulatory board or licensure entity within each state. Therefore, each state determines its specific prerequisites for licensure eligibility and requirements for licensure. - WHAT ARE THE EXHIBIT HALL HOURS?The Exhibit Hall Hours are the same as the conference, you can pop-in whenever it works best for you!

- WHEN AND WHERE ARE FUTURE AVMA MEETINGS? Visit the AVMA future meetings page to view locations and dates for upcoming meetings, including AVMA Convention, the Veterinary Leadership Conference, and AVMA Symposiums.
- WHAT PLANS ARE BEING PUT IN PLACE FOR AVMA CONVENTION 2022? At this time, we are planning to meet in person in Philadelphia, but we will have a virtual component available. We are working with the convention center, local hotels and vendors on safety plans and policies. Please stay tuned for more information!
- WHEN WILL REGISTRATION OPEN FOR AVMA CONVENTION 2022? We are planning to

Kick off to Convention: Behind the “MEOW”-sic & the world’s largest virtual pet party
- DO I NEED TO BE REGISTERED SEPERATELY FOR THE KICK OFF EVENT? No – all AVMA Virtual Convention attendees are invited to attend the Kick off to Convention as part of your Convention registration. To add the event to your schedule, click on Session Schedule then search for “Kick off”. Use the calendar icon to save the event to My Agenda.
- MY SPOUSE/COWORKER/FRIEND WANTS IS NOT REGISTERED FOR THE VIRTUAL CONVENTION. CAN THEY ATTEND THE KICK OFF? Yes! All AVMA Members are invited to join us at the Kick off to Convention regardless of if they are are attending the Virtual Convention. Members not attending Convention can registernow for this event to secure their free spot.
- I AM LOCAL TO MINNEAPOLIS, AM I ABLE TO ATTEND THE EVENT IN PERSON? Yes! In person attendance slots are limited and available first come, first served. Register today In-Person Registration Code ($5): MEOWIP21
