Intersection of Equitable Practices in SEL
Information
The need for social and emotional learning (SEL) has never been so clear. With students and adults worried about their health, combatting systemic and interpersonal inequities, and striving for strong social and emotional health, now is the time to ensure we focus on creating environments and experiences that promote social and emotional development in an equitable environment. To do this, educators need strategies to understand their own biases and assumptions, and practices that uplift and empower students to flourish and achieve their self-determined goals. In this panel, researchers and authors of the recent handbook, Moving the SEL Field Forward Through Equity, will discuss diverse ways in which educators can create equitable and inclusive environments through SEL interventions and strategies that specifically attempt to address current inequities
