Muscular strength testing is not new to industry. It does not fit all jobs. It fits best with physically demanding jobs. Musculo-skeletal (MSK) injuries are still the number one injury in industry especially for physically demanding jobs. The shoulder injury is now the number one MSK in terms of frequency and cost.
Further, muscle health is playing a critical role in disease prevention and management of certain diseases like Type II diabetes and hypertension. The IPCS algorithm is designed to generate an index score on muscular health to determine risk for MSK's and health related to certain lifestyle diseases.
