About Excel
Excel Supply Company, Inc. was founded in 1993 by Irene Reyes—widely known as “The Glove Lady®” and “The Supply Lady™.” What began as a small venture selling medical gloves from the trunk of her car, sparked by an initial $120 sale, has grown into one of the Northwest’s premier importers and distributors of safety, medical, janitorial, and office supplies.
Over the years, Excel has strategically expanded its product offerings and customer base through diversification and key acquisitions. In 2000, the Company transitioned from a one-bedroom apartment to an 8,000 square foot warehouse in Fife, Washington. Continued growth led to a major expansion in 2011, when Excel doubled its operational space to more than 16,000 square feet and introduced a retail storefront to better serve the community.
Key Supply Milestones
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Excel has become one of the Northwest’s leading suppliers of medical nitrile gloves and N95 respirators. During periods of global shortage and unprecedented supply chain disruption, Excel successfully maintained inventory while many competitors could not meet demand. Through strong vendor and manufacturer relationships, proactive sourcing strategies, and unwavering commitment to its customers, Excel not only sustained supply to her contract customers while exceeding expectations and surpassing one of the most significant procurement challenges in recent history.
Excel reached another significant milestone with the purchase of land in Milton, Washington. Construction of a new warehouse and office facility was completed in December 2020, underscoring the Company’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence and long-term growth.
Excel’s sustained success has been strengthened by long-standing customer relationships, mentorship programs, and support from organizations including the U.S. Small Business Administration, the City of Seattle, the Washington State Office of Minority and Office of Minority & Women’s Business Enterprises (OMWBE), and the State of Washington. Many of the Company’s earliest customers remain loyal partners today - a testament to Excel’s dedication to service, integrity, and enduring customer relationships.
