What is Pelican?
Pelican is a next-generation autonomous UAV platform developed by Pelican Autonomy, a spin-off from Lemay.ai.
Purpose-built for GNSS-denied and contested environments, Pelican combines rugged hardware with cutting-edge AI to deliver high-endurance, low-cost aerial capability for defence, emergency response, and critical infrastructure missions.
With a unit cost target of under $50,000 USD, Pelican is designed for attritable, scalable, and modular deployment, unlocking new possibilities for unmanned operations at scale.
At the core is a dual-rotor tailsitter VTOL RPAS, requiring no launch infrastructure and capable of ~400 km range, 5.5 hours endurance, and 15 kg payload. Its modular payload bay supports rapid field reconfiguration for ISR, resupply, or tactical delivery. Four prototype variants (Pelican S, M, L, XL) support missions from short-range sensor drop-offs to long-range autonomous reconnaissance.
Unlike traditional UAVs, Pelican is powered by Lemay.ai’s proprietary AI autonomy stack, offering:
