The Kruger Products Sherbrooke AI Digital Twin is a win-win-win—for operational efficiency, sustainability, and value delivered to partners, suppliers, and customers.
If you’ve bought Scotties, White Swan, or SpongeTowels recently, chances are they were made at Kruger’s new Sherbrooke Tissue Plant, a state-of-the-art facility equipped with Canada’s largest and most advanced through-air-dry tissue machine. To maximize the potential of this new site, Kruger implemented a digital twin of its supply chain—from raw material procurement, to production planning, equipment maintenance, risk management, logistics, and delivery.
This virtual supply chain model runs on real-time data and AI-driven predictive and prescriptive insights, enabling plant managers to make agile adjustments and improve efficiency at every link. The benefits: reduced waste, increased energy efficiency, lower emissions, and products that are higher quality, more available, and more competitive.
The Sherbrooke AI Digital Twin is the product of Canada’s growing AI innovation ecosystem. The Quebec Ministry of Economy and Innovation invested, while researchers from Polytechnique Montréal and Laval University contributed expertise. Osedea (software development) and Boston Consulting Group (management consulting) brought their skills to the project. Scale AI, one of Canada’s five Innovation Superclusters, was an original investor.
This project showcases how AI can boost productivity, strengthen competitiveness, and secure long-term growth. Kruger plans to extend AI-powered supply chain management across its entire manufacturing infrastructure in Canada and abroad—further cementing Canada’s position as a global leader in AI innovation.
Sherbrooke AI Digital Twin delivers wins:
Greater efficiency for Kruger.
Higher quality, availability, and competitiveness for customers.
Reduced waste and carbon footprint for the environment.
Momentum for Canada’s AI ecosystem.
