Envisioning the Future of Buildings

Our society‘s expectations and regulations towards a sustainable way of living and a circular economy to protect our planet are increasing. At the same time we are facing a multitude of challenges such as demographic change, growing demand for urbanization, urge of renovating aging buildings to make them more efficient, need to find smart ways to construct buildings, growing presence of digitalisation as a driver of change, intelligent ways of living and interacting with buildings that must be, on top of that, affordable for the majority of citizens. 

Since the start of 2020, Covestro has been conducting a study with different architecture universities and construction experts exploring these changes. Together we identified over 120 micro trends that will shape the building sector over the next decade. 

In association with the AJ Summit, a group of passionate architects took part in a workshop to share their thoughts about these trends and envision the future of the building industry. The results of which will be presented and discussed in this session.
