COAT Paints

Information

Going beyond the basics of environmental consideration - COAT Paints is by name and nature a true “Challenger Brand'' in the paint industry. Fundamentally changing how paint is produced, sold, and distributed - COAT takes a purposefully different approach at each step of the paint value chain, leading change with a new breed of deeply regenerative business.

The biggest contributor to paint waste is the paint industry itself, where millions of litres are scrapped each year due to overproduction. Mass production and top-down demand generation is a risky and wasteful way to operate. COAT on the other hand, is the only paint company to mix paint exclusively to order employing a zero-waste model.

Similarly COAT doesn't make tester pots, but instead offer clever ‘Peel & Stick’ swatches. Alongside a tightly curated colour palette, these ingenious recyclable swatches make colour choice super easy, whilst being 95% less wasteful than a traditional tester pot. No adhesive or solvents, so they’re simply recyclable too.

Unlike most paint produced, the entire COAT range is entirely water-based, ultra low VOC, odour free and vegan friendly. Sadly, 70% of the world’s paint produced is still solvent based - which means harmful chemicals and nasty smells form the base paint product. The EU limit for Low VOC products is 30g/L, which is the strictest in the world, and COAT Flat Matt is a miniscule 2g/L. COAT paint is also Certified Child Safe EN73-1 and EU Certified A+ for Indoor Air Quality, and being Climate Positive means they contribute zero to any project impact calculation.

Importantly, those credentials and COAT’s wider approach don’t come at the expense of product finish or durability, with the company claiming opacity and durability levels that exceed mainstay rivals.
