Everyone’s talking about AI. The Alabama Medicaid Agency (AMA) is one of manystates acting on it, starting with impactful low-risk activities, but with plans for strategic, high-impact initiatives.

In this session, Mason Tanaka (AMA Deputy Commissioner and CIO), Andy Pitman (Microsoft State and Local Government HHS Strategy Director), and Dustin Bailey (Microsoft Alabama Account Director) will discuss a sensible AI continuum, progressing from basic work efficiency improvements through program outcome enhancements.

They’ll discuss AMA’s current AI development efforts and implementation of WebUI Based Virtual Assistants. Additionally, they’ll discuss AMA’s use of AI Agents, and why they believe it will greatly enhance their AI tools.

Additionally, AMA and Microsoft will discuss their strategic partnership and progress on a project to enhance interactions among Alabama residents, providers, and health- related systems to enable positive health outcomes, using the State’s HIE ALOHR (Alabama One Health Record) and AI for Risk Stratification, Predictive Analytics, Quality Metrics and Reporting.
