Information

Investments in human capital development of children and young people are among the most effective and productive investments that countries can make in their own future. There is robust evidence that school meals programmes are effective platforms to support human capital and community development. The challenge is now to ensure minimum levels of coverage in low-income countries, as a key strategy for pandemic recovery and the attainment of several SDGs. This session will discuss the avenues that African and European countries can take together to support and strengthen school meal programmes across Africa and build human capital and economic growth. The session directly links to the priority areas of health, education and peace included in the partnership framework between the AU and EU.
