Jenga CCI – Global Project on Culture and Creative Industries (CCI)

The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. It promotes knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation for almost seventy years. The cultural and educational programmes encourage intercultural dialogue and enable cultural involvement in over ninety countries. On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Global Project on Culture and Creative Industries (CCI) mutually implemented by GIZ (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and the Goethe-Institute and active in 6 countries in Africa and the

Middle East, is looking into innovative support models for actors in this field. CCI is the most dynamic and fastest growing market and pioneer in the business world of tomorrow. It already serves the core sectors of development cooperation in many partner countries, e.g., on the way to a service society. CCI creates jobs and strengthens non-monetary values that contribute to inclusive and sustainable development: innovation and creativity, attractiveness, and perspectives for young

people.

Since the arrival of Covid-19, the CCI has been one of the sectors hit hardest by the necessary restrictions and regulations imposed by the government. Hence, digital is no longer a domain reserved for only a few sectors; it is more relevant than ever in the creative sector and a valid alternative for business and exchange. As a result the Global Project is implementing resilience funds through stipends and capacity building measures in order to further support the sector and its actors during the ongoing pandemic. Our projects focus on strengthening the music and creative tech sector through capacity training and extensive knowledge transfer to build an ecosystem of professional creatives within the CCI.
