Perspectives on Clinical Data Management from a Tobacco and Nicotine Company
Information
The vision and mission of BAT is to build a smokeless world by encouraging smokers who would otherwise continue to smoke to switch to smokeless, reduced risk profile, nicotine-containing products such as oral nicotine pouches, vapour or heated products. Conducting high quality clinical research is critical to understand the reduced risk potential of these smokeless products. As clinical data managers working in this sector, we support and oversee the clinical data management deliverables of these studies, ensuring that the data generated is accurate, reliable, and analysis- ready in accordance with international and regulatory standards.
We have been attending the ACDM conference for a few years in order to keep abreast of developments within the profession, ensuring our clinical data management operations are advancing in line with generally accepted approaches to clinical data management across industries.
An overview of our clinical data management operations and approaches will be presentedwith an aim to share with the ACDM community our perspective on how clinical data management operations can be translated into our research.
Collaboration between clinical professionals is key to advancing data management operations in order to ensure the continued advancement and adoption of best practices to deliver the highest quality datasets whilst implementing developing approaches available in the field.
First Learning Objective: Address the role of CDM representatives from our industry attending ACDM, illustrating through relevant case studies how the end-to-end CDM process operates.
Second Learning Objective: Highlight current areas of CDM operations being used in the tobacco industry.
