Skills for green future

Skills for green future

Maison du Bois, Av. des Volontaires 2, 1040 Etterbeek, Belgium

Information

The green transition is providing the opportunity for new jobs to be created, yet the workforce needed to facilitate this transition does not yet exist. As part of this transition towards a green future, changes in the labour market will include the loss of jobs in sectors such as in coal, peat, lignite, oil share, and carbon-intensive industries, the creation of new jobs linked with the environment and sustainable activities, as well the transformation of jobs to meet changing demands for new and different skills and industries.  This session will look at what is being done at different levels to ensure the workforce has the needed skills to support this transition, including through reskilling and upskilling, initiatives taking place in JTF regions, and what actions are being taken by different stakeholders at the European level.
