Keeping an eye on JTF implementation through monitoring

Keeping an eye on JTF implementation through monitoring

Maison du Bois, Av. des Volontaires 2, 1040 Etterbeek, Belgium

Information

Most JTF territories have already had one year of project implementation since most of their Territorial Just Transition Plans (TJTP) were approved by the end of 2022. As projects get off the ground, JTF regions are also coming to terms with a need for robustly monitor performance. The JTF Regulation outlines an obligation for monitoring mechanisms and lists numerous key criteria to be heeded, but on the ground, they need to be more appropriately extended and tailored to match each region’s context. This session will open up discussion about various approaches to setting up effective mechanisms and governance of JTF monitoring, including via Just Transition Observatories, about exploring the challenges and solutions applicable in practice and looking for next solutions and suggestions for enhancing these approaches even further.
