Opening Session: JTF projects in spotlight

The programming of the Just Transition Fund (JTF) in the EU has been completed, and efforts now focus on implementation. Commissioner Ferreira will inaugurate the event, reflecting on accomplishments achieved so far, including the adoption of 70 Territorial Just Transition Plans covering 96 territories across the EU and the successful start of implementation of several projects outlined in these plans. Following Commissioner Ferreira's opening remarks, Commissioner Simson, will provide a video intervention emphasizing the importance of citizen empowerment for renewable energy deployment and decarbonization efforts across the European Union. The representatives from regions supported by the JTF will then get the opportunity to engage in a discussion with Commissioner Ferreira, presenting concrete examples of JTF projects in action. Participants will detail how these initiatives are making measurable and tangible contributions to regional just transitions and the overarching goal of European cohesion.
