International dimension of just transition and closing remarks

This session will focus on the experiences of countries located outside of the EU with regard to the implementation of just transition policies.
It will feature a keynote by Commissioner Simson on the EU’s global just transition efforts (including the Just Energy Transition Partnerships (JETPs)) and a presentation from an international organization on the experience of just transition implementation on the ground. These will be followed up by an online panel discussion between non-EU countries that are in the process of transition (US, South Africa, Indonesia and Colombia). Panellists will share insights on the different legislation, programmes and funds available in their country and the challenges and opportunities experienced in the past and future years of transition – with a specific focus on how these relate and apply to the EU experience.
