Microencapsulation of Lactobacillus for Controlled Release on Skin

Microencapsulation of Lactobacillus for Controlled Release on Skin

Technology & Engineering

Information

Although sometimes postbiotics, or lysates microorganisms, may have the same effect than live probiotics, some of their bioactive effects are lost during the lysate treatment. To solve this challenge and to be able to incorporate living probiotics in cosmetics matrixes, the present work has aimed to develop a new microencapsulation system that allows stabilizing the probiotic microorganism while keeping it viable. Additionally, it can protect the microorganism from the cosmetic matrix avoiding its release in the product and meeting the microbiological requirements of the cosmetic. Finally, the microcapsule releases the living microorganism in the moment on application to the skin.
