With consumers caring more and more about environmental and ethical aspects, the combination of improved performance and lower contents of chemicals is continually gaining importance. In view of an ever-shrinking ingredient palette, the aim of this study is therefore to help formulators develop high-performing sun care formulations with an improved final texture of the product. Emollients are known to have SPF-boosting properties and to enhance the “touch” of cosmetic formulations. The behaviour of four emollients in Zinc Oxide dispersions was investigated, and the obtained results were compared to those of actual W/O sun care emulsions: they show that ZETEMOL allows to achieve high performance as well as an elegant texture in sun care formulations.
