Somaesthetic design, research & industry collaborations

What has Philosophy to do with Industry? In this presentation, we want to share with you the journey that Quadpack (www.quadpack.com) and Elisava (www.elisava.net) have been exploring during the last years, bringing Design Research, Wellbeing, Beauty and Packaging Industries together with young talent. Somaesthetic philosophy considers that human relation with the environment is mediated by the body. Maximising the capability to listen to our body allows us to completely understand and feel the environment. Knowing our body, designing with it and on it enables us to experiment interactions between person and environment, to design fluid dialogues and propose products that aim to improve our wellbeing. The research and design process does not ‘just’ focus on users’ needs and desires, but in their bodily experience and wellbeing. During the last years, this partnership has visited areas such Fragrance, Skincare and Make-up, materialising the results of this Research in meaningful, innovative products and services.
