Information

AVA can help you to provide personalised lenses with a process that allows for more precise measurement during the refraction test. The current refraction process results in measurements to the nearest 0.25 D. Our latest research shows that 95% of people have more sensitive vision than this, and so the team at Essilor have challenged the correction standards and taken them to the next level. After five years of scientific research and analysing more than 100,000 vision parameters, Essilor have developed a breakthrough journey of high precision vision: AVA. AVA is based on two technological pillars, which help you deliver precise eye examinations and a more accurate prescription for each patient. The more precise eye examination process is now based on a new subjective refraction at 0.01 D increments. This is achieved through Essilor’s breakthrough phoropter, Vision-R 800. Vision-R 800 can enable you to deliver personalised lenses with AVA, thanks to a revolutionary optical module and a smart refraction programme. What’s more, AVA can be achieved while maintaining social distancing, which is crucial. The precise prescription can be integrated into Essilor premium lens designs, with AVA available in some varifocals and single vision lenses. Bringing your practice into the 21st century, Vision-R 800 and AVA lenses together can provide a seamless experience for your patients, from the refraction test to trying on and fitting of the frames.
Essilor Ltd & Essilor InstrumentsWhile the company's roots go back well into the last century, Essilor International was formed in 1972 with the amalgamation of two French companies Essel and Silor. Essilor has had a presence in Britain since 1881 when Société des Lunetiers opened it's British operation in Hatton Garden, London. It maintained a presence in the city until 1975 when the company moved its offices and production facilities to Thornbury, near Bristol. Essilor employs around 450 people in the UK and has some of the world's most up-to-date lens surfacing and coating equipment.  Globally, Essilor operates in around 100 countries. Essilor is world famous for the Varilux lens, the world's first varifocal, which was invented in 1959. Since then over 200 million Varilux lenses have been manufactured worldwide. Essilor is the world leader in ophthalmic products. One in every two varifocal lenses sold worldwide is an Essilor lens. Essilor has four major brands that embody cutting edge technology. Varilux (varifocal lenses), Eyezen (advanced single vision), Crizal (lenses with multiple coatings) and Transitions (photochromic lenses). The Varilux brand often features in national media providing valuable footfall opportunities for Varilux Lens Specialists and its strong marketing makes it a familiar sight in almost every High Street. Essilor has attained ISO 9002 and ISO 9001:2000, following continual reassessment of systems, procedures and quality throughout the manufacturing facility. see less
