In 2019, Manfred Rieck set the course for Deutsche Bahn in quantum technologies by founding a research group for quantum technologies. The group focuses on the industrial use of high-performance computers and quantum computers for optimization problems and on the security aspects of quantum cryptography (PQC, QKD). He sees the international ecosystem as the key to success, which is why he is expanding Deutsche Bahn's activities in this area. Deutsche Bahn is a consortium partner in several projects of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate and of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research. Mr. Rieck is the founder of the Federal Quantum Alliance, a member of the Governance Board of the European Quantum Industry Consortium QuIC. He is memebr of the Board of Directors from BITKOM HPC&QC working group and part of the Quantum Research Committee of the Munich Circle.
