Livingstone Mugisha is a Programme Officer for Environment and Inclusive Economic Growth at the Embassy of Sweden in Kigali, Rwanda. Since joining the Embassy in September 2021, he has been supporting the Embassy in Operationalisation of the development cooperation strategy between the Government of Sweden and Rwanda. Operationalisation has included tasks like project appraisals, follow-up on actual execution as well as their respective closures. Livingstone also has contributed to the development of different analytical pieces like the Multi-dimensional Poverty Analysis (MDPA+) which forms an integral part in the execution of the Swedish development cooperation strategies. Prior to that he was a Technical Advisor in Green Economy and Sustainability Issues at the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) Rwanda, where he was leading GIZ Rwanda’s sustainability initiatives and HQ reporting on similar issues. He also led the implementation of programmes and projects in field of circular economy, sustainable agriculture, food systems as well as projects that aimed at economic empowerment of women and youth though green skills development. Livingstone has also previously worked with National Green Fund through DFID, Save the Children as well as the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Board through Africa Green Revolution Alliance (AGRA) Livingstone has worked and is interested in issues related to sustainable resources management, climate change, forest and landscape restoration, circular economy, environmental economics, green jobs creation, sustainable agricultural and food systems development, MSD and stimulating systemic change. Livingstone holds a BSc in Agricultural Economics and an MBA in Project Management as well as an MSc. in Natural Resources Economics.
