Steve Morris is currently Team Leader for FCDO’s Commercial Agriculture for Smallholders and Agribusiness (CASA) programme. For 24 years he has supported Inclusive Market Systems Development and Governance in Southern Africa (Malawi and Zambia) focused on smallholder productivity, market access, SME business planning and NGO capacity development, mobilising collective action between state and non-state actors, coalition building, and strengthening relationships within complex systems: Over the last 12 years he has led VSO’s 4 hub-country Making Markets Work for the Poor project (briefly), ILO/FAO Zambia’s Rural Youth Enterprise programme (Yapasa), FCDO Malawi’s Traction issue-based governance programme and now CASA with its focus on leveraging investment into agri-SMEs in Ethiopia, Malawi, Nepal and Rwanda. His sectoral value chain knowledge includes tea and coffee, dairy, citrus, soybean, poultry, aquaculture and horticulture and a broad range of approaches in organics, ethical trading, and regenerative agriculture and climate resilience approaches as well as good governance.
