About me
Julia Spies is the Chief of the Trade and Market Intelligence section at the International Trade Centre (ITC). Since 2016, she has shaped ITC’s work on export potential, expanding its analytical services to include value chain identification, trade policy impact assessments, and methods for estimating trade-related employment effects. From 2021 to 2025, she led ITC’s Trade Data, Tools, and Analysis team, managing flagship platforms such as Trade Map and Export Potential Map, as well as related policy-oriented studies and training programmes. Julia holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Hohenheim (Germany), and her research has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals.
