About me
Ben Beuchel leads the Refugees and Trade Programme at the International Trade Centre (ITC), where he oversees a global portfolio focused on leveraging trade for the economic inclusion of refugees, internally displaced persons, returnees, and host communities. His work centres on using market-based approaches to build resilience and economic opportunity in displacement- and migration affected contexts.
Ben has spent the past five years with ITC, including in the Office of the Executive Director as JPO, where he supported donor engagement and corporate governance. Prior to that, he worked in Liberia and Burkina Faso on trade policy, private sector development, and economic reform, including with the World Bank and as an ODI Fellow in Liberia’s Ministry of Commerce.
Ben is a German national. He holds degrees in Economics from the University of Cambridge and Pompeu Fabra University, with a specialization in international trade and development.
