Shun Ishiwaka + YCAM performance Echoes for unknown egos – manifestations of sound A performance work in collaboration with Shun Ishiwaka, a percussionist who has garnered attention for his wide-ranging activities that transcend genres, and YCAM. The theme is "performing with oneself. YCAM, AI researchers, and software developers collaborated to develop "agents" (representatives), including artificial intelligence, that listen closely to Ishiwaka's performance and enable diverse and delicate sound expression. The agents will play sounds based on Shun Ishiwaka's drum solo. Communication with the agents through performance gives Ishiwaka new performance ideas and creates a process of rediscovering anew the core of Ishiwaka's musicality, including the elements that develop from sound to music and the connections with his collaborators. While "egos" in the title of this work refers to the agents, it also suggests the encounter with unknown sounds that will be discovered through performing with the agents. In other words, this work can be seen as an attempt to create "various Ishiwaka(musician)”.
